fueling the fire?

watching movies is rare in our home...
at least for the hubby and myself.

he wakes up at 4am, and by the time the kiddos go bed at 8pm-8:30pm, we tidy the house, get ready for the next day, its already 9pm. there isn't much time to watch a flick and still be functional the next day. however i miss my hubby dearly, and we hardly see each other, so he made the choice to sacrifice some sleep, and he ordered a movie.

i let him choose.
a comedy.
not a fan, personally, but i wanted him to watch what he wanted to watch.
i didn't care.
snuggled up next to him was my own agenda.

he's a fan of jean claude van dam.
"welcome to the jungle" was his choice.
(not that there was much choice)

not even 5 minutes into it, i rolled my eyes.
half way through it, my blood was boiling.
by the end of it, i wanted to puke.

i don't have a problem with nudity when done tastefully in ART form...
a painting from centuries ago- stuff like that. yes, i can appreciate it.

but, when its completely random in a movie, and then every other minute you have the male characters drooling over the female characters, cat calling, and making crude remarks?  its disgusting and violating even to the viewer.

and its sad.
as a woman, you want so badly to make it in Hollywood, you cast yourself as the "girl who takes off her shirt while the main character oogles her goodies with binoculars while also referring to her as a {a name i won't care to mention}... oh, and btw... what was your name again?? and who are you exactly? what's your role in the movie? and where is the display of any kind of talent?  if you've got the talent, don't believe the lies that you have to start from there to work your way to fame.

i guess i can go on and on about this...
i know some won't agree, and that's okay.
we're all entitled to our own opinion.

but to me, personally...
this is where it starts.

with movies (porn) like this.
filthy magazines.
with porn itself.
with strip clubs.
with topless bars.
prostitution.
where there is a demand, there is a supply.
human trafficking...
a hush hush. turned heads. blind eyes.
ITS HAPPENING whether we'd like to believe it or not.
and what are we doing to PREVENT it???

"God can only do something when His 'hands' do something! IF people reduce the demand for sex trade, end the objectification of women, reduce, or end access to porn, the problem reduces globally."

and then, i think....
when will women stand up and fight for their identity??
and more importantly, when will women COME TOGETHER and quit bashing each other??
lock arms, and FIGHT, because we aren't just women, we are Daughters of King.
we are ROYALTY!
to be respected. to be heard. to be LOVED.

how can we demand the respect that we DESERVE if we as individuals violate or even support the same lack of respect?

i have never felt so sick to my stomach after watching a movie.
and yeah, it was a dumb comedy with absolutely no grounded plot and full of complete randomness...
but, it got my hubby i thinking...
do we personally have movies in our own home that support this type of thinking towards women??

we sure do.

my heart was so convicted.
so much, that i couldn't sleep.
my heart hurt so badly.

so...today, i purge.
i don't want that crap in my house.
period.
